Invictus Gaming is a Chinese team that causes pride among all fans of the DotA 2 community, not only from China but from around the world. How many IGs managed to win one of the most prestigious tournaments, namely The International 2012 World Cup. Also, the team is crowned champions of WCG 2012, G League 2012, and ECL 2013.
At the end of 2012, IG decided to create its own Dota 2 team. At that time, the Invictus Gaming team looked very confident with such players as Chen «Zhou» Yao, Jiang «YYF» Cen, Luo «Ferrari 430» Feichi, Wong «Chuan» Hock Chuan, and Zeng «Faith» Hongda. Yes, although the team was young, still, the IG matches looked very confident and determined to win. The team's most important victory was waiting for them ahead, but even in the same 2012. Dota 2 World Championship, The International 2012 in Seattle USA, the team easily reach the finals. In the Grand Final, they encountered, oddly enough, last year's champions from Ukraine, Natus Vincere, to whom they lost only one card from BO5. The composition of the Invictus Gaming Dota 2 team became the winners and received a prize of one million dollars.
Further, in the same year, the composition of the Invictus Gaming team was forced to change. Invictus Gaming had to replace «Chuan» because, according to the rules of World Cyber Games 2012, he could not play for this team. And the management decided to sign Li «chisbug (CH)» Chen for a replacement. Invictus Gaming showed an impressive performance at this championship and completed the group stages with an unbeatable record. But another team also went through group stages with the same high result. In the finals, the two teams met, IG and DK, and despite the high level of play of the two teams, Invictus Gaming manages to interrupt the winning streak of Team DK. The team did not lose more than one match for the entire tournament and became the 2012 World Cyber Games world champion in cyber games. 2012 was probably the most successful year for the team, as they won at such tournaments as ACE Dota Pro League 2012, G League 2012 Season 1, G League 2012 Season 2, The International 2012, and WCG 2012. Also, 2012 brought them a lot of awards as the team of the year, according to the GosuAwards and Liquid's Dota 2 Awards. Also, all team members were nominated for the best player in their position. Then began the change of composition.
Further, the team with the new roster was able to win ECL 2013 and take second place in the G-League 2013 Season 1 and WPC ACE Dota 2 League 2013. After, the list of prize places began to decline. In 2014, the team boasted only one first place on the WPC. In June, Invictus Gaming became ESL One Frankfurt champion, beating Evil Geniuses in the grand finals with an excellent 22-0 score in the final game. In 2015, IG became the champion of Major All Stars Season 1. But after these first places in the championships, we can only hear about them at The International, where the team that once was the winner no longer takes prize places. The last time the Invictus Gaming team took first place back in 2017 and won the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017.
2019 was a good year for the team, with a new roster of substitute players «zhizhizhi», «Emo», «JT», «dogf1ghts» and «Oli». Then the team was able to win 4 tournaments, as well as take many high places. It is worth noting the third place at the MDL Chengdu Major and the first at the DOTA Summit 11 tournament.
In 2020, the team changed again; all former players of the organization returned to the team. The line-up consisted of «flyfly», «Emo», «JT», «Kaka» and «Oli». But the only tournament the players could win was the Asia Spring Invitational. The team was also able to take second place at China Dota2 Professional League Season 2 and ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: China. The team finished the year in 7-8th place at the OGA Dota PIT S4: China tournament.
