Virtus.pro was founded in Russia. At first, the Virtus.pro team positioned itself as a team in the DotA AllStars discipline. The organization saw the potential, as the team showed outstanding success both in the CIS region and in major international tournaments. In 2012, it was decided to create the Virtus.pro team in DotA 2. The team was led by the now successful analyst Yaroslav «NS» Kuznetsov.
In 2013, the Virtus.pro Dota 2 team was invited to The International 2013 World Cup with a massive prize pool by the standards of that year. But the team was probably not ready for this level and took the last position in the group. Virtus.pro matches were frankly weak, and therefore the team won only three maps out of 15. Virtus.pro team in DotA 2 finished one of the first in the championship. In 2014, the team also did not show high results, in connection with which Yaroslav «NS» Kuznetsov announced that he was leaving the organization and ending his career related to DotA 2 as a player. Then there were significant problems with the composition of the team. It changed so often, and the players did not even have time to play with each other, as the organization signed a new player. Until 2016, the team had neither stability nor success, both at local championships and international ones.
But everything changed after The International 2016 World Cup when the roster changed again. The newly created team led by Alexei «Solo» Berezin became the best and most successful team in the history of the Virtus.pro team. In November, the team won The Summit 6 LAN, defeating OG 3-0 in BO5.
In 2017, the team's composition was able to show itself very well at The International, taking 5-6th place, which was not a bad result for the organization, comparing the team's game with previous performances at this tournament. Also, 2017 was a successful year for the team because the squad managed to win ESL One Hamburg 2017, as well as the first major season of the Dota Pro Circuit season 2017-2018.
The year 2018 began simply amazing, as the team was able to win and take first places in four championships at once, such as ESL One Katowice 2018, The Bucharest Major, and ESL One Birmingham 2018. What was even more impressive was that the Virtus team .pro was the first organization in DotA 2 to win two consecutive ESL One championships. In the 2018-2019 season, they could win the first in the season Kuala Lumpur Major. Even though Virtus.pro took second place in the Dota Pro Circuit season 2018-2019 and became one of the favorites at The International 2019. The team could not defeat the Royal Never Give Up team and finished their performance in 9th-12th place. After that, the organization decided to change the team's composition, which has already played together for three years. So the team left «Ramzes» and «9pasha».Then, in September, the organization decided to change the team's composition during the reshuffle period, which had already played together for three years. So «Ramzes» and «9pasha» left the team. In their place, the organization invited Roman «Resolut1on» Fominok and Egor «epileptick1d» Grigorenko. In October, Vitaliy «Save-» Melnik joined the team. It should be noted that «epileptick1d» and «Save-» were in the team on probation at that time.
After a string of tournament failures in February 2020, «epileptick1d» was replaced by «Cooman», and «Save-» was replaced by «Zayac». «Cooman» never managed to gain a foothold in the team, and he was replaced by «iLTW», who began playing for the team as a Stand-In. But such drastic changes did not lead to anything good, and in September 2020, the organization announced that the Dota team was becoming inactive. In November, it became known that the new line-up of the team will be the players of the second team of the organization, namely VP.Prodigy. Also, in the same month, «Solo», «No [o] ne», and «Zayac» left the team.
The new roster, namely Egor «epileptick1d» Grigorenko, Danil «gpk» Skutin, Dmitry «DM» Dorokhin, Vitaliy «Save-« Melnik and Illias "illias" Ganeev, began to show excellent results. In December, the team won the EPIC League Division 1 tournament, beating reigning and two-time world champions OG in the final 3-2.
