This professional Dota 2 team hails from the United States of America. The Evil Geniuses Dota 2 team is one of the oldest teams in this discipline. Back in 2008, the Evil Geniuses organization had a DotA Allstars lineup. Still, it had to be abandoned, as the game's popularity went out, and Dota 2 was already announced in 2010. Therefore, the organization began to think about how to show itself well in this discipline. After the 2011 International DotA 2 World Championship, EG announced that it had assembled its own team in October 2011. The composition of the Evil Geniuses team consisted of such players as Rasmus Berth "MiSeRy" Filipsen, Jimmy "DeMoN" Ho, Amel "PlaymatE" Barudzija, and Pers Anders Olsson "Pajkatt" Lille led by Clinton "Fear" Loomis, who started his career as DotA Allstars. This was a reasonably old-fashioned player whose dream was to play and win in his favorite discipline.
In the early years, the EG team's composition could not show promising results in tournaments. But things started to change after the Evil Geniuses Dota 2 team signed two new players in 2014. They were Kurtis "Aui_2000" Ling and "Sumail." After that, the squad of Evil Geniuses reached the top 3 teams at The International 2014 World Cup. And next year, EG players reached the final of The International 2015 and won the CDEC Gaming team in the final.
The lineup that won The International 2015 was: «Fear» Clinton Loomis, «SumaiL» Sumail Hassan, «UNiVeRsE» Saahil Arora, «Aui_2000» Kurtis Ling, «Ppd» Peter Dager.
Evil Geniuses became the first team in the United States of America. So far, the only one that wins this tournament. This was the first and most significant victory of this team.
In the same season, the team also won an honorable third place at Frankfurt Major 2015 and Shanghai Major 2016.
After which, the team was determined strongly for the next The International. The Evil Geniuses matches at The International 2016, and their rivals were on top. The team was able to take an honorable third place.
In the same year, the legendary player Clinton "Fear" Loomis moved to the team coach's chair.
And in 2017, the team dropped out with The International, then the roster lost two players, and the organization announced that Fear would again become part of the team as a player.
But in 2018, the team was ready to win. The International 2018 in Canada should have been a great chance to remind everyone of itself. Matches Evil Geniuses were not the easiest, but they managed to defeat two favorites of the tournament Virtus.pro and Team Liquid. But unfortunately, the team could not win a meeting with PSG.LGD and took third place at the World Cup.
Even though the team changed its composition quite often, Evil Geniuses always play stably and take prizes in almost all tournaments in which they participate.
In September 2019, the team signed two new players, namely "Abed" and "RAMZES666", while "s4" and "SumaiL" leave the organization. Until the end of the year, the team shows an unstable game. The best result is the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore tournament, in which the team takes second place.
2020 starts pretty well for the team. The team took second place at the DreamLeague Season 13 tournament in January, losing 2-3 to Team Secret in the final. Further, until September, the team takes first place on WeSave! Charity Play - North America, ESL One Los Angeles 2020 - Online: North America, BTS Pro Series: Americas, and FVBet Showmatch # 2. It is also worth noting third places at BTS Pro Series Season 2: Americas and ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: North & South America in June 2020.
In September 2020, due to the pandemic, the team cannot normally perform together. The players are located in different countries and are experiencing ping problems. Because of this, the organization decided to temporarily not participate in tournaments. It became known that "RAMZES666" was leaving the band and "iceiceice" came to replace it a week later in November.
